Job description

Amerlish is actively developing its own English language curriculum based on CCSS and Chinese elementary school English standards. Using culture and literature, Amerlish curriculum teaches language skills through leadership and social skills. A curriculum developer with Amerlish creates materials for this proprietary curriculum. Under the direction of the Amerlish Chief Academic Officer, curriculum developers will plan curriculum materials, write children’s stories, and design worksheets and assessments for students, ages 5-12 (equivalent to American kindergarten through sixth grade).

As a full-time part of the curriculum team, curriculum developers may manage specific curriculum projects overseeing timelines and assignments of interns, contractors, and other members of the development team. They will ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and professionally. Curriculum developers may also teach up to two classes at an Amerlish school during their contracts, allowing them to interact with the students and understand how curriculum and materials are used in the classroom. They may also be asked to substitute for teachers who fall ill or are on vacation.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a United States college or university
    • Preferred field of study: TESOL, ESL, English, education
  • Native English speaker (ability to speak in a neutral American accent)
  • At least 24 years old (for work visa requirements)
  • Experience working with children as a teacher, counselor, or coach
    • Preferred: Teaching experience of children in an ESL environment
    • Preferred: experience developing curriculum and planning lessons
  • Professional work manner and ability to collaborate with a group
  • Ability to lead and manage a team including planning, scheduling, and follow through on projects with teammates and contractors.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office and Excel
    • Preferred: Experienced with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
    • Preferred: Experience creating children’s songs and videos
    • Preferred: International travel or work experience, especially in China

Qualified Curriculum Developers have the potential to earn 17,000 RMB to 23,000 RMB per month (salary + housing) (DOE).
